The Future Of Footwear

HUGO, the younger of the two HUGO BOSS brands, is collaborating with 3D printing shoe producer, Zellerfeld, to create a first-of-its-kind, fully 3D-printed loafer.

The smart silhouette of the HUGO FORWARD x Zellerfeld loafer bridges classic tailoring with the radical printed future of footwear. Designed with sharp lines and architectural precision, it reimagines the traditional loafer for a generation that values both utility and bold design.

Printed to order at Zellerfeld’s automated facility in Hamburg, each pair is made from a single recyclable material. Available in beige, black, red, orange, or blue, it debuts a new crepe inspired sole texture rooted in footwear heritage and reinterpreted through digital manufacturing. Fit is personalised using Zellerfeld’s foot scan technology, generating a unique profile for each customer and continuously improving with every order.

At the core of the design is a world-first for footwear: a fully printed closure system with no stitching, glue or added parts, delivering lockdown and adjustability through structure alone. Printed through Zellerfeld’s proprietary software and hardware, the HUGO FORWARD x Zellerfeld loafer eliminates the need for inventory, traditional sizing and waste, offering a glimpse at what footwear can become: custom-fitted, circular, created in hours and unlike anything before.

The HUGO FORWARD x Zellerfeld loafer joins a growing stable of innovative pieces introduced under the HUGO FORWARD banner: a platform showcasing HUGO’s innovative, technology-driven approach to design. HUGO FORWARD pieces are carving a path of transformational exploration, following the mantra, “You’ve got to keep moving to stay ahead of the game,” underscoring the brand’s commitment to a better fashion industry.

The highly exclusive shoe debuted on the runway at Taiwanese brand NAMESAKE’s Paris Fashion Week show on June 29. The HUGO FORWARD x Zellerfeld loafer will also appear styled with NAMESAKE looks in the brand’s upcoming lookbook.

In a street style shoot conducted during the buzz of Paris Fashion Week, HUGO styled the new shoe with hand-picked looks from the HUGO Fall/Winter 2025 collection. A standout among Zellerfeld’s current library of sneaker-focused, 3D-printed footwear designs, the HUGO FORWARD x Zellerfeld loafer demonstrates a strong tie-in with HUGO’s current focus on youthful, modern, versatile tailoring.
