Redefining fashion through an exploration of human anatomy, clothing and flowers, Alexander McQueen’s Autumn and Winter 2023 collection focuses on beauty and power.
Alexander McQueen’s Autumn and Winter 2023 collection, led by Creative Director Sarah Burton, delves deep into the intricacies of human anatomy, clothing construction and the beauty of flowers. With an emphasis on cut, proportion and silhouette, the collection challenges the norms of fashion, unravelling the classic and reimagining it in innovative ways.
Sarah Burton explores tailoring and fabrics in imaginative ways, transforming garments by dissecting them and playing with proportions. The line features strong shoulders, narrow waists and exaggerated silhouettes that redefine traditional tailoring. The orchid is the collection’s most prominent motif and is celebrated in both its rare cultivated and more common form.
The showcased looks paint a picture of sophistication and daring style. From the double-breasted tailored coats to widelegged trousers in luxurious fabrics like cashmere and wool dogtooth check, each piece reflects meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. The juxtaposition of tailored jackets with cut-out waist jumpsuits and oversized cocoon coats blend elegance with a touch of avant-garde flair.
The collection’s jewellery line complements the clothing, featuring dissected flower ear sets, orchid-inspired rings, earrings, necklaces and an array of stunning silver and gold metal pieces, adding a refined finish to the overall look.
