Luxury Maison celebrates the virtuosity and musical legacy of the great Polish composer of the Romantic Era with its latest Donation Pen Special Edition.
Considered one of the great masters of Romantic music, Frédéric François Chopin, (March 1, 1810 – October 17, 1849), was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of poetic genius. During his short life, his pioneering mastery of rhythm and harmony, enthralling melodies and intricate textures opened up new musical dimensions. The technical virtuosity of his compositions continues to challenge the world’s greatest musicians today, and their moving quality captivates audiences everywhere. As a tribute to this music maverick, Montblanc has created the ‘Montblanc Donation Pen Homage to Frédéric Chopin’, spotlighting his profound cultural influence with delicate design elements celebrating his talent and legacy.
While Chopin’s status as one of music’s earliest celebrities, his turbulent love life and early death have made him a leading symbol of the Romantic era. It is his major musical innovations in piano composition that cemented his reputation as one of the greatest composers who ever lived. The clip of the Montblanc Donation Pen Homage to Frédéric Chopin writing instrument is shaped like a piano hammer to commemorate his oeuvre that was focused on the piano. The cap ring features musical notes from his famous nocturne, “B-flat minor Op.9 No.1” alongside the Montblanc logo.
The composer’s signature is laser-engraved on the backside of the pen’s cap. The bi-colour Au 585 solid gold nib is decorated with an engraving of Chopin’s profile. The blue ink window of the fountain pen is a reference to “La Note Bleue”. The phrase was used by his lover and author George Sand in one of her works when describing an evening she enjoyed with Chopin and painter Delacroix, when the composer inspired by a conversation about colours of painting and music, improvised music that surrounded the guests in a flurry of magical musical notes that could be described as “blue” in colour.
The collection is composed of one Special Edition (available as a Fountain Pen, Roller Ball or Ballpoint Pen) presented in a Special Gift Box that also features a notepad enhanced with musical notes from Chopin’s famous “B-flat minor Op.9 No.1”. Montblanc Donation Pens are rooted in the celebration of classical music and supports carefully selected cultural projects through the Montblanc Cultural Foundation with a donation of 20€ for each fountain pen and 10€ for each Rollerball/Ballpoint sold.
